Viper 7.0
Current WIP for updated hotbars in 7.0, focusing on minimising swapping hotbars in combat and keeping visual clarity on relevant buff cooldowns and maximising consistency across all jobs. Bar 1 is for single target, and Bar 2 for AoE.
The dye represents potion, and Sprint and LB are macroed to L3/R3 respectively.
viper controller guide
i love this set up it allows for easy access to to ogcds whatever trigger you are holding. also easy reawaken combo and gcds are on face buttons so its easier to move while attacking
VPR 7.05
Updated for latest patch
Buttons consistent for similar job actions (Dye = Potion)
Ex and WX Face Button Viper
Built around RT Single Target LT AoE split, with most class buttons on the face buttons (A,B,X,Y), and role buttons on the D-Pad. Several buttons doubled to maintain comfortable play between AoE and Single Target combos. Assumes Sprint on L3 macro. Limit Break placed where I would have it if I didn't have a controller with keyboard command programmable buttons.
This layout puts most of the work on the face buttons and being comfortable with switching between Expanded and WXHB
VPR MMO
MMO mouse setup with modifiers.
worst VPR layout. probably.
I don't use this job
Aria's Viper Layout
Utilizing Main XHB, WXHB and Expanded XHB
XHB RT = Single Target Normal
Comfortable Viper XHB
Uses XHB, double tap, LT->RT(which are almost the same for muscle memory). Also uses a bar for cooldowns you cant see on LT->RT
Uses sheathe weapon layouts too for run, food, teles, etc
VPR XHB w/ ST-AoE swap
Hotbar 1 covers all single target actions and all role actions. Hotbar 2 covers all AoE actions and all role actions.
Hotbar 5 contains the few shared skills that don't fit on hotbar 1/2, along with Limit Break. Twinfang/Twinblood are behind the skills that activate them.
Viper Layout Optimized for controller
This setup is optimized to my style of play. I tried to minimize the amount of movement my trigger fingers do cause I get tired.
Ayria's Viper
2 is for AOE combo > stays at the top 1 is for Standard combo (single target) > main bar 3 is for Role skills
Test Build - 7.05
I like to keep all my single target on the right trigger and AoE on the left trigger.
Looking into the current flow for 7.05 this seems like it should work and keep the placement of buttons matching the layout of the bars in the UI.

2 active hotbars, lvl 100
HB 2 is expanded as well cause double tapping triggers sucks :) HB 3 for aoe and the space to fit single target rotation on 2 htobars
2 XHB, lvl 100 Dawntrail (7.0)
Thought process
- GCDs on face buttons so movement is easier while rolling gcd
- OGCDs put roughly in order of pressing (e.g. lance charge ->Litany -> clockwise following gcd order)
- WXHB and Expanded XHB are shared on Hotbar 2 so I can see the Expanded because double tapping is annoying and 32 slots is plenty for most jobs
- Macro is placeholder for Pot
- Hotbar 3 is for easy switching to during 3+ encounters and so they don't waste space, leaving room to add reminder macros or move anti kb to a face button
- There are 3 free buttons (4 if you remove leg sweep) if you want to add aoe anyway
- Sprint as a macro on the left thumbstick (L3) so you can press it while moving
2 Active XHB Lvl 100 Dawntrail
- WXHB and Extended XHB shared on HB 2 for visible Cds
- AOE rotation separated on HB 3 to replace HB 1 when needed
- standard GCDs on face buttons for movement and OGCDs near GCDs close in the rotation/bursts
2 XHBs Lvl 100 Dawntrail
Thought Process
- single target on the right
- role actions in the same place as red mage build
- gcds on face buttons for movement because smn doesnt cast
- WXHB and Expanded XHB shared on hotbar 2 so cooldowns visible and dont have to use double tap
- AOE duplicated on XHB 3 because I expected to have to move it from XHB when smn got more abilities :/
- if you need room just keep whatever is comfier
- Legos in order for titan first opener
- Also, yeah that is just physick. Honestly probably just going to put lux solaris there
2 XHBs lvl 100 Dawntrail
Thought Process
- melee and spells separated
- Tried to place ogcds near their rotation/burst gcds (e.g. embolden near melee combo, pot near spells for opener, etc)
- Fleche and C6 duplicated to make drifting harder
- spell relevant actions near spells (e.g. lucid, instants)
- macro icon is placeholder for pots
- Expanded XHB on HB 2 shared with WXHB to see cooldowns, use whichever you feel comfortable using. I just think double tapping is annoying :)
