A limited set of actions can assigned via macro commands. Incompatible actions are ommited from the generated macro. Also note that Macros are limited to 15 lines each.
A SMN layout that makes sense for my brain and how I play. Single Target on main, AoE on hotbar 2, which I usually switch to by hitting right bumper (R1) and then staying on that hotbar as needed.

Based on Squintina's layout, but with tweaks that fit my brain better. ST on chotbar 1, AoE on chotbar 2. I hit R1 (right bumper) to change to the AoE and sit on that chotbar as needed. Since RDM is my Eureka job, I have Eureka Potion set to chotbar 3, LD
Just tried my best have a good flow that made sense. I put the painting actions on dpad and regular attack actions on face buttons this helped me most to have a good muscle memory flow and have painting and attacks be separated and bounce between them. Al

In this layout, I grouped the attack Motifs & Muses together, along with their action buttons, and your normal single target & group attacks and separated them from the other normal/non-motif/non-muse attacks. That neatly left room for Smudge on the main

2- +shift to above use this for aoe's and multi target stuff
3- num pad 1-9, *, -, +
This is very basic and I will change as I get used to the class.
