I only use wasd for movements. all hotbar slots bound to mouse buttons.

stack each hotbar (as shown). i put the mini map in the middle gap. ends up looking like two 3x4 hotbars (left and right) the right hotbar is for gshift (or shift modifier). 

I can add screenshot later.and maybe a link to my mouse config file.the purpose of the awt up is to make your hud lo8k like a g600. if you dont  use an mmo mouse, then this may not be usefu.

this is for my ROG Ally when undocked. do not use on console.
Left trigger is for aoes/ trash pulls. Right trig is for single target.

you might notice there are important skills missing. this requires xivcombos plugin on PC. otherwise this will not work.for example, after using  hypercharge, it changes to heat blast. scattershot will also turn into autoxrossbow while in heated mode. Your 1-2-3 combo also gets combined into one slot.  This let's us occupy at least 5 fewer slots without losing any functionality, which makes using a xhb far more practical.

this uses a wxhb that automatically switches back after 1 input. just a preference.

the empty slot is for pots..don't know how to add this here.

used with Logitech g600. all inputs on mouse. 0 keys are pressed. MUST USE XIVCOMBOS AND ReACTION PLUGINS otherwise you will be missing several necessary abilities..

HB 2 uses gshift 

hotbar 3 uses middle click, left tilt, right tilt, G7, and G8. you can also add pots here.
